DrStran3g3 8 years ago #2. The more recently manufactured, the better the model. The Destiny and LEGO Lord of the Rings were the last PS3 Super Slim models released to my knowledge. The Last of Us PS3 bundle is from 2013 if I recall correctly. PS1/PS2/PS3 Gen - CDs, DVDs, Bluray, Games, Backwards Compatibility.
The PS3 Slim has a matte finish, and “PS3” is engraved on the top this time. The PS3 Super Slim has a sliding disc cover instead of a mechanical disc drive. As the names imply, each model is 97. I recently picked up a few faulty PS3 super slim that have an issue reading discs, I've checked that the drive and the laser is not the issue by replacing the full assembly so I'm at a bit of a dead end. I've checked the ribbon cables with a multimeter to look for any breaks or cuts and have found all the traces to be intact. So I'm thinking of upgrading (or rather adding) my PS3 storage as my PS3 is only the 12 gigabyte Super Slim model. From what I have heard, the PS3 is compatible with pretty much any 2.5 SATA drive, but I'm still a little unsure. I have sought out this Kingston SSD, 120 gigs. This SSD is 7 mm tall. My question is, is it still compatible?61. r/PS3 • 22 days ago. Black Friday is approaching…back in 2013 you could pick up a PS3 for $150…interesting enough it’s been almost a decade since that time but many of us still play our PS3 console daily…it’s my main console at the moment! Even when I pick up a current Gen I am sure the PS3 will stay in the rotation!!
The following model was the PS3 Slim, released on September 1, 2009. It was wildly popular in comparison to the first model. It wasn’t just slimmer – it had better storage capabilities, weighed less, used less power, and was quieter than its predecessor. The final model was the PS3 Super Slim, which was released on September 28, 2012. If you're a fan of the PS3 or have been sitting on the fence, waiting for its price to drop to $299, the good news is that from a features standpoint, the 120GB Slim PS3 is nearly identical to the FzI7Ej.
