iTrader: ( 0) I've recently completed the harman kardon retrofit in a e92 lci and it is a lot of work but I managed to complete it in two days working alone. There are 13 speakers in total. Front centre speaker. Front door speaker x2. Front tweeters x2. Underseat subwoofers x2. Rear speakers x2. Rear tweeters x2.
In the 50% volume setting things are much closer. B&W still wins but not by much. Sadly 80% of my driving (especially during Covid) is with the family, so the volume is closer to 25% where I cannot hear any difference between the two systems.
This is super simple - in bimmercode, go to the Headunit section, then set Bowers & Wilkins sound settings to 'active' and then code it. Note that this only works if you have the HK upgrade, it will not work with the base stereo unit. 2. In 'Sound' settings in HK, select the Studio profile. Frankly, the other three profiles sound gimmicky with
Specifically on the current 5 series I’d say yes, and would guess that it’s a nice upgrade on other models that offer it too. 2. vishrit. • 1 yr. ago. Yes! 1. kewlkauboy. • 1 yr. ago. Totally worth it.. have them on mine.

I put a $200 Pioneer head unit and 2 pairs of Polk Audio 6x8s ($150) in my 96 Thunderbird with no external amplifier, and it sounds better than the HK in my BMW. It's sad that $350 bucks and 4 speakers beats the ~$600 I paid for 10 HK speakers and an amplified subwoofer.
thorgal_24 · #2 · Apr 5, 2017. I tested HK and B&W in G30 while test driving 530i and 540i. The B&W was remarkably better for my ears. The music tracks I tested were in hi resolution, 24 bit and dsd. So I'm assuming that HK would be a good step above standard, and B&W a few steps higher.
The harman kardon system in the 335 had much better, fuller bass as the sub was directly under the seat. Mercedes has the subs in the doors (at least for the coupe). It is more punchy, less boomy. The burmester is accurate through all the ranges. The highs are stupidly accurate at any volume as well.
